These sessions are intended for teachers that would like to cover the essentials of utilizing the iPad in their classrooms. Please review the agenda on the sessions to see where your comfort level is at this time.  Keep in mind there are make-up and level advancement sessions scheduled in May.  Attendance at this event is a prerequisite for receiving a class set of iPads at Title I schools in 4th and 5th grade, or specific middle school subjects.
  • Walk through of iPad hardware and features to be aware of
  • Using Air Play to share, assess, and display student work.
  • Using Self Service to order apps (paid and free) for your classroom
  • Creating links to any website that appears as an app for your students to quickly access content and resources
  • Settings every teacher should be aware of on the iPad
  • Use apps like Chatter Pix and Blabberize to add a creative element to communicating a students’ understanding of a wide range of topics.
  • Make sure teachers know how to access an iPad’s Control Center and modify built in applications to their class dynamics and needs.
  • Leverage apps like Quizziz and Kahoot to support the feedback loop so important to any data-driven classroom
  • Utilize apps like SeeSaw to share the learning process and portfolios with parents
  • Understand that apps like Post It Plus are crucial to the collaborative process and can merge analog and digital learning techniques.
  • Have students use Google Earth to explore all subjects through their themed Voyager tours that take students all over the world as they learn about sports, culture, governments, health, and much more.
  • See how to use QR codes in your classroom to support voice and choice, as well as other uses for quick navigation to learning resources using easy to use sites like Classroom Screen.
  • Use features in Socrative to change the way you provide content and assess students in your classroom.
  • Have your students Explain Everything with tools like Explain Everything or ShowMe to get their understanding of the content being learned.  Learn how to share this content with parent, other students and even have your students create learning tools for each other using QR codes
  • Explore apps like Capture Notes 2 or the built-in Notes app that allow students to record and share their understanding of the content.
  • Understanding Bloom’s and the role that Socratic, Photo Math even Amazon Echo and the need for more than recall in the digital age we find ourselves in.
